"Painkiller" is the story of Rob - a young man with a disability and a passion for music. When he's kicked out of his heavy metal band because of his disability, Rob's self-esteem and confidence takes a serious hit.

The only person to be able to convince Rob to play again is his firecracker of a best friend, Cass. She persuades him to reform their childhood band "Painkiller" and enter the local Battle of the Bands.

After recruiting the shy, geeky-looking Mickey as their drummer, the unlikely trio prepare and practice for the competition. However, Rob is still struggling with his physical and mental demons and isn't sure if he'll make it onto the stage at all.
